There wouldn't be anything wrong with Sinsplit if NPC's weren't so retarded. It seems when attempting to balance NPC's importance and VoD, ANet either make them useless or make them amazing, kind of like they do with skills. Sure, shadow stepping gives a great advantage in terms of splitting, but Assassins aren't strong enough at the stand so the problem isn't anywhere near as bad as it could/is percieved to be.
With shadowstepping in general though, disabling its use for any class other than Assassins would stop Recall chains, as well as preventing telespike.

Did shadowstepping ever did anything good to this game, on either sin or any other character?

That's a matter of opinion. I think it did, lots of others won't. What definately wasn't good for the game was the addition of "instagib" combos like the SP sin has. Post the first GPS nerf and the shadowstepping range change, the AoD Sin wasn't too powerful, but was certainly viable.
